Jonny has performed at many of the UK's and Irelands leading festivals with his band Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip for nearly 20 years, including Glastonbury every year for 14 years, Latitude, Electric Picnic Ireland, Edinburgh festival and Leeds, Grassington, Kendal Calling, Lamar Tree, Wilderness festival, Beat herder, Bath Comedy Festival opening night headline act, Cheltenham Literary Festival, Port Elliot Literary Festival, Stroud Arts Week, and Flatlake Festival Ireland and headling Roots of Steel festival.  Further venues include Brick Lane Art Fair London, Colony Club Soho, Idler London and London Fashion Week, as well as numerous arts centres and other live venues around the country including the Cluny Newcastle, Hootenanny Brixton, Pyramid and Parr Hall Warrington, Colston Hall the Lantern Bristol, Le Public Space Wales, Glad Cafe Glasgow, Southbank Bristol, Widecombe Social Bath, Brudenell Social Leeds, Bush hall London, Wonder Inn Manchester, Grand Social Ireland, Brussels Theatre 140 and sold out shows at the Harrison London in 2019, 2018 and 2017. They regularly sell out the Brudenell In leeds during their twice a year visits.

Iggy Pop nominated ‘Sweet Leaf Of The North’ his favourite song of the decade in America on National Public Radio (https://www.npr.org/2019/11/13/778766540/iggy-pop-on-mik-artistiks-ego-trip) have been further championed by Iggy Pop on BBC6 music in 2019 and gained single of the week in 2016 on B.B.C 6music and received repeated airplay on Gideon Coe’s B.B.C 6music show and Tom Robinson’s B.B.C 6music show in 2017. They were featured as a must see artist in the official Glastonbury Programme in 2016 and received newsprint bands to look out for on the 2017 festival circuit alongside the Foo Fighters and Radiohead.

They have been winners of album of the week on Rock FM, and Comedy Store Manchester talent night winners. They were mentioned as musical highlight of the year 2011 in the Observer newspaper and in Tim Dowland’s Guardian magazine Column.

They have released nine albums two live DVDs, a film about the band was screened at Leeds International Film festival entitled “Who is Mik Artistik?” followed by a live performance at the cinema. The band has also ben  been played on Jarvis Cocker show on Radio 6 Music, Mark Lamar show Radio 2 and Radio Four.
 
2019 has seen Jonny continue to work with a range of musicians including American / roots group Colour of Light, Hard Time Hardtimes Orchestra, Redefusion Allstars and experimental electronic a trio performing at Leeds Yoga festival. Jonny is also a member of Home of The Brave, winners of an Arts Council and Jazz Yorkshire award to fund a recording of an album released in autumn 2010 followed by a tour. They were a featured on Radio 3’s Jez Nelsons Jazz on 3 show.

In 2019, Jonny work with members of the R.S.C and York Rose Theatre on a modern interpretation and performances throughout the summer of Richard the 3rd.

Jonny works as session guitarist, recording and live performer with many other artists and musicians including B.B.C. introducing artist Fuzzy Jones, contemporary folk artist Emily Levey, the West Yorkshire playhouse production ‘Where’s Vietnam’ written by Chumba Wumba’s Alice Nutter and Boff Whaley, as ‘Travelling Riverside’ featuring best British Blues harmonica winner Jon Burr, and appeared on recordings released here and internationally.

Jonny is a Principal Lecturer in music, teaching one-to-one guitar and performance in context lectures at Leeds Conservatoire, teaching on the B.A. Pop M.A. postgraduate masters course. His teaching specialism is electric guitar one to one and delivering guitar workshops. He has also led specialist project weeks for the undergraduates, including music psychology lectures, contextual studies, performance anxiety and Classical Guitar for the Electric Guitarist. He is also the tutor for adult guitar short courses held at the college.  Jony has received two most inspiring teacher awards from students at the college. Jonny also plays classical guitar, led specialist project weeks for the undergraduates, entitled Classical guitar for the Electric Guitarist. He attended West Dean International Classical guitar Festival for two years.
 
In 2015, Jonny completed his Master’s Degree in Music Psychology in Education from Sheffield University. His thesis research area was a study of how musicians from the areas of pop, classical, folk and jazz learn differently. Jonny wrote and developed the 'Intermediate Plateau’ a book designed to focus on strategies for developing towards a more advanced level of playing and developing on your instrument.
